Raffy is doing really well with his Trilostane for his Cushings. Along with Diabetes it is very tricky to find that balance but his Mum Jackie and the team at ADA are doing such a wonderful job.
He is in very, very good hands. x

My heart breaks for poor Raffy. We lost our beautiful boy as between the Cushings and diabetes he was suffering so to find a balance that works is fantastic. I hope that he lives a long and very happy life π

Last week we were asked if we could help Georgie.
Georgie is a 16 month old Poodle x who was taken into a vet clinic to be euthanised. The vet team refused. She had been urinating inside and was ‘jumping up’.
Bought from Gumtree this was apparently her 3rd or 4th home.
We have done a health assessment and she has been given the all clear and we have seen her behaviour at home and she is probably what we would call confused and untrained to a certain extent.
But she loves people and other dogs – and we know she will be fine.
Two things she will need. A commitment to Obedience training. And another playful doggie mate she can romp with.
Georgie will be up for adoption soon. Stay tuned.
People who get little dogs and just expect them to be well behaved without any training or effort are infuriating. They still need training and structure to be well adjusted members of society.
Just like my beautiful Pearl who was taken to a vet to be put to sleep, vet refused and contacted RWL. I adopted this gorgeous gentle girl 5 years ago and she passed two weeks ago in my arms at home with our vet. Pearl was 15 years old when she crossed the π bridge. I miss her gentle self beside me so much π’
Sometimes it’s the people who won’t take the time to train potty
I really don’t understand people that won’t put in the effort to toilet train their dogs. It’s just consistency. Our daughter got a puppy a couple of months ago and her commitment to training is paying off with her 4 month old puppy. Georgie will be fine. She’s poodle so she has the intelligence. ♥οΈ
I’ve worked in animal welfare, for 25 years until recently, with a large shelter, and one of the most hideous reasons someone brought their cat in for surrender was that they had bought a new couch and the cat no longer matched the colour scheme …..
Gosh it’s the easiest part of having a pup to toilet train. I have 2 that with persistence picked it up so quickly, the older pooch literally taught the younger one by following him out the doggy door for a toilet break. The oldest one was taught with puppy pads on the floor then moved it towards the doggy door then outside of it and walla. We were all working whilst training. Some people annoyed me like this one’s owners
Heartbreaking when there's so much intelligence, love and loyalty just waiting to be unlocked. Thank you for the rescue; I'm too far away to apply and I hope she finds a forever family. Can only guess the level of betrayal this pup must feel. Gumtree should be banned as a pet point of sales as should other such sites.
I was the 3rd person to adopt my dog in 3 months, they think she had been abused also. Yes she had issues, but love, understanding, training and patience are worth it. I needed to do a lot of desensitization, like standing outside building sites when they are using nail guns, she doesn't mind that sound now. She still hates motor bikes, wipper snippets, push bikes and scooters, she wants to eat the wheels. She doesn't really like kids either, as they are unpredictable, if they stand still, let her sniff them, then she will let them pat her. Plus kids need to be taught to not bark at dogs or run towards them, and never run from them, because the dog will run after them and knock them over or nip them. I tend to be constantly educating kids when I am walking my dog, some listen others don't.
I have a Maltese/Shihtzu cross about the same age. When I got him a few months ago he had all those behaviours and is slowly learning not to jump on people or lick them to death.
No wonder this little darling maybe confused, being pushed and shoved around from one home to another, probably wanting to give love and affection but no one taking any notice or giving her any. She hasn’t had a settled life. I hope she finds the peace, companionship she needs and deserves in a loving caring home
Doggie nappies problem solved
I know the perfect family for Georgie. My friends just lost their dog about a month ago. They do have an 18month cavoodle and are the best parents. Their dogs are regularly groomed every six weeks and are only given the best of everything. Walked daily and sleep on their bed. They have started looking to fill the void little Lady has left. π
I am Mom to a dog that was removed from an abusive situation and then returned from 2 homes……..and she is AMAZING xxx gives and gives and gives β€οΈ
So first I thought it said "16 year old" and I was horrified because she was basically being punished for incontinence. Hey, welcome to having an elderly animal, you find a way to deal until their overall quality life is too poor to continue. Then i saw it was 16 MONTHS and that's even worse! That's a baby. You have to teach babies what to do and what not to do. But I know that Georgie is in good hands now. RWL will find her a great home and she will have a good, long life with a family who loves her.
Oh Georgie, what a sad life you have had so far. But it has turned around now and you will find the perfect home very soon. This time it will be furever. We would jump at the chance to adopt you but Monte is getting old and cranky these days so probably not the best fit. Still you will do fine. Love from us.
I had to euthanise my 17 yr old poodle last week ,it was just heartbreaking How the hell could anybody take a perfectly healthy beautiful puppy and ask a vet to do that ,I hope they give them what for . Some humans need to be euthanised π‘

If Georgie is in Perth please consider me and my wife. We are an elderly couple who have rescued 3 mini poodles over the last 40 years. Sadly our last mini poodle passed 18 months ago at the age of 14. We are ready to do it again.

it would so easy to have her trained that to sounds like she suffers from anxiety which needs to be addressed my dog suffers anxiety common in poodle x dogs
A family member euthanized a healthy dog. It was decades ago and I haven't forgotten or forgiven.
Those previous owners need to have their name against a "CANNOT OWN A DOG" register. Unbelievable!!!

How horrible are people π’ to put her down for urinating and jumping up. She is so lovely someone will love her.
Sparky always looks sad. Just look into his eyes and they show the terrible trauma he suffered before being rescued and coming into care. Starved and obviously mistreated, because he ducks down when reached for, even for pats, not used to being inside he was a very sad little boy. Now he dances around and loves to play with his doggie pals Smurf and Paddy. Heβs just started sleeping in/on his carer Mum’s bed and not a sound out of him all night, he loves it. Heβs such a sweetie now, he seeks out and loves pats and back rubs, the more the better. Heβs come such a long way from the terrified, reactive, very skinny dog RWL rescued thanks to our fabulous, compassionate supporters and the RWL crew β₯οΈ
That’s a beautiful post. I have witnessed this type of transformation with two of my RWL bubs. All they need is a chance and lots of love.
